Active Desktop Recovery not working

D

dennis

Hi,

After experiencing a system failure ( WinXP's version of Win95's Blue Screen
of Death) the Active Desktop Recovery does not work. I cannot reset the
wallpaper nor can I change to any other wallpaper.

Can someone suggest a fix for this?

Thanks,
Dennis

Active Desktop is still available on 32-bit versions of Windows XP SP2
but with reduced functionality. (It has been removed from Windows Vista.)

May I suggest that it was not necessary to cross-post to 4 newsgroups
with such a basic question. In fact, you would have found your answer in
a snap with a web search. (That's how I did it. ;-))

Yup. It's just (yet another) sign of the times.

Actually, I've already tried that........and I didn't have to web search to
think of it. That's why I posted the question!

If anyone has something meaningful to suggest, only those WITH CLUE need
respond.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Use my Remove-it software, it has two desktop reset tools built-in. Choose

1) Please don't snip out the text of the message to which you are replying
(whilst, oddly, leaving your own original).

2) Care to tell us what *else* you've already tried, so folk don't waste
their metaphorical breath? Eg: "I've also already tried System Restore to a
point just before the rather paltrily-described "system failure", but it
didn't work."

3) Have removed the "group" microsoft.public.windowsxp from your crosspost.

4) Careful with the insults, *you're* the one asking for assistance here.

Same problem with Vista

Hi Dennis,

Am also experiencing the same problem but in Windows Vista OS  . My laptop gets booted up properly. But the desktop is blank without any icons and any bars. I could open all the applications thru Windows Task manger. :)

Kindly help me to get my Active desktop.

Thanks,
Vanthana
