activation

My friend bought a WinXP professional CD (from a markert) and installed it .
It works fine except for no sound and the CD came with a product key . I had
a look at the cD and it is a copy. It came with a key of course and it was
same price as a new WinXP CD.

What about Activation, there was no sign of being asked to activate it
apparentley as I avent seen the PC yet. Is this going to fail because there
will be no activation key.
This is a buyer beware story.

I would think it is definitely a pirated copy and the reason it does NOT ask
to be activated is because it is the corp version of xp. The corp version
did NOT require activation.
