Mr Bean

Bought second hand Toshiba notebook with s/ware and OS XP Pro

Installed Win XP, and system asking me to activate it. When I put the
same number I used from notebook sticker, it says that such number is
not valid.

Any idea? It works when installing from CD.

The same number!

TIA

Activation does not require you to insert product key unless you want to
change it. Call your MS support center and activate it by phone. They will
explain how to do it.

"Trustworthy Computing" is only another example of an Oxymoron!

Are you activating or installing Windows?
You input the Product Key from the sticker early during installation.
Activation occurs after installation is completed.

If it is activation, choose the option to activate by phone.

If the Product Key is invalid:
Are you using the CD that was originally shipped with that computer?
There are many different types and others are not compatible with different
types of keys.
Otherwise look closely.
O-0, B-8, G-6. 5-S and others look alike.
Have another person try, sometimes another set of eyes and fingers can get
it.
