After a repair install of Windows XP Home Edition, the operating system will not allow me to log on. It states that the copy needs to be activated and asks me if I wish to do so. Both answers (Yes and No) log me off and will not allow me to process with activation. I remember this problem from past posts but I do not recall the fix. Thank you in advance for you advice.

I tried. It states, "You cannot activate Windows in Safe Mode. Please
restart your computer to Normal Mode and activate Windows." Any other
suggestions?

Thanks Greg. That did it. The only thing I did differently from the linked
instruction was not running the command line msoobe.exe <-- since I could
not activate in Safe Mode anyway. So after editing the registry, I reboot
into normal mode and it allowed me to activate windows. Thanks for you
assistants.

Sorry, I forgot to mention if you are working in safe mode. After
you modify the wpa events. You need to reboot normally before running
this command.

Start menu run box %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
