Activation problem after repair install

My Windows XP Home Edition was not running right so I rebooted and it
wouldn't load up. So re-installed in repair mode ( I didn't want to lose my
hard drive).

Now I get to the welcome screen, type in my password to activate windows and
a message pops up saying I need to activate XP. I choose yes and it doesn't
do anything but log me off and and keep at the welcome screen, asking me to
re-type my password again.

Can someone please help? Thanks.

Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".
While in Safe Mode, rename the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files located in the
\Windows\system32 folder.

This will force activation on the following boot,
but should remove the message that you are already activated message.
Sometimes if these files get corrupted, they can cause this type of problem.
