activation of windows xp after original 30 days

Funny you didn't mention WHY you failed to activate.
Couldn't possibly be a bootleg XP, could it?

So activate it and you wont' have problems. Unless, of course, it's not a
legal copy, in which case, buy a copy, install, and activate THAT.

Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate
Windows
and take the item to 'activate by phone now'. That will give you a toll
free number which you call, and swap one long number you read from the
screen, for another to type back in (and check). Do *not* turn the
machine off in the middle of the process.
