Activation Issues

This is activation procedure is stupid

Purchased Vista as a part of a pc build, as i'm system builder

This had been working fine until last week when the nvidia nforce drivers
totally trashed the system causing it to blue screen constantly.

Only viable solution was to reinstall vista - so done this but won't
activate as already registered - if go through their stupid telephone system
it's all about xp - i've purchased vista not xp

now how can i get this resolved, as it is stupid - i'm using it on the same
pc it was installed on, only difference is the cpu as i upgraded it to a
faster one, but vista should still work and activate yet it wont

this is totally ridiculous

The activation line is automated. However, and I know it's a pain, if the
automated system cannot activate your copy then it 'should' put you through
to a 'real' person who will be able to deal with your query.

From your post "...when the nvidia nforce drivers totally trashed the
system..." - Driver fault - why necessasry to reinstall Vista? Also from
your post "...i'm using it on the same pc it was installed on, only
difference is the cpu as i upgraded it..." - Are you there? Read new CPU -
now not same PC.

It would have taken less time to activate over the phone than time spent on
your post!!!

Because it was totally blue-screening during various stages during file
access and causing data corruption, and rather than sit there and work out
what was trashed, and hope nothing else was screwed up, it was easier and
quicker to do a fresh install, by litterally wiping the installation drive.

As for cpu, it was actually installed and working within a week of
registering the product, and should not affect the reinstallation or
activation as the mobo was not replaced, nor was any other part. A new system
is classed as mobo, cpu, gfx, hdd.
Not a cpu. And the oem is tied down to the mobo it was installed on

Fair enough if I had replaced mobo then would accept problems

but why can't they have on their automated online system when re-activating
it also requests a username/password, as with most other software when
re-activates after a re-install or upgrade of the product, instead of saying
this has already been activated phone the number to get the code.

As with xp, guaranteed it will need a reinstall every so often, so for
tidying up purposes

And as for your comment 'Are you there', yes I am are you !!!
