Activation frustrations

I have had this problem before and it is really starting to irritate me.
For some reason, whether it be to change a hard drive, NIC, software or some
other item, Windows XP tells me that it is having a problem with the
activation code.

This latest time it was on a W2K unit that I upgraded to XP Pro, installed
all the Service Packs, Office, and about 10 other apps. After I have just
about completed everything I get the activation code error which prevents me
from logging on. Microsofts's solution is to do an in place upgrade, which
of course will cause me to have to put back on the SPs, Windows Updates,
driver updates, etc.

Another time I upgraded a XP Home machine to Pro and immediately got
the activation request and since I have had this machine for over 30 days.

There has got to be a way I can connect to this computer remotely and change
a setting in the Registry that tell the computer to start the activation
process and not just deny access to the computer. Does anyone know of the
key to do this?

Buy enough shares of MS until you're the majority shareholder, then get
MS employees to code a way to do it.

Reinstall 2K, and viola, no more activation frustration. There is so
little difference between the two, except for the added bloat-ware in
XP, that there is hardly anything you can do with XP that you can't with
2K.

But you can try posting this question, every day if you like, but I
doubt you get any other advise that will be of much help.
