activating the Formatting features in Outlook

Can't find a way to activate the formatting buttons in
Outlook. The buttons are there, but grayed out and
inactive.

Make sure you've got HTML or RTF format selected and that your cursor is in
the message field.

To select HTML or RTF format;
tools->options-> tab mail-format
