Activating F-Lock

I just replaced my batteries and now my function keys are not doing
what they used to do. I did a search on the help areas and cannot find
out.

All I want to do is activate the F-Lock. It isn't lit on the mouse base
as it usually is, and depressing the F-Lock key does nothing.

Reinstall the software.
