Activated but validation fails!?!

Jonas Jonsson

I've rebuilt my PC (again) and added new discs etc and then installed XP
(from the same downloaded media (MSDN) as I've used the last three or four
times on my PC).

SP2 is already in on the CD (slipstreamed?).

The installation works as expected but when I try to use WU/MU the get the
message that 'validation failed' and all of a sudden theres a small banner on
the down right side of my screen about piracy etc....

AFAIK my MSDN copy of XP is valid and totally legal (I've downloaded it
myself from my MSDN subscription page).

I called MS support here in Sweden and checked that XP is activated (with
some command that I've forgotten now), and it is.

Has my CD become corrupt all of a sudden, or is there a bug in the
validation process?

Is this possible to fix without haveing to re-install all over again? I do,
of course, have a valid product key from my MSDN subscription.

Best regards,
Jonas
