I formated my computer today and I now get the activate
windows message. I don't know why. I bought xp last year
when I built my computer. I have no idea why this is
popping up, it's beeing installed on the same computer.

Chuck,
You have to activate after you install Windows XP - it doesn't matter if
you've activated before. Just go through the activation process like you
did originally.

When you formatted the hard drive the control files created when you
first activated Windows were wiped out, along with all of the other
inforamtion on your hard drive.

You must therefore repeat the activation process. This should be
automatic over the Internet, especially if it has been more than 120
days since your original activation.

Good luck
