activate office

hi, I was installing office xp on 2 pcs when I realized that I accidentally
used the same license for the 2 pcs.... how do I re-activate the office on
the 2nd pc to the correct license?

what I meant was: I used the same product key to install office on 2 pcs, so
how do I update the product key for the 2nd pc to the correct one?

Simple - you purchase another licence, unless the second PC is a laptop,
you're in violation of the EULA by installing it on more than one system OF
THE SAME TYPE.

The above, however, does /not/ apply to OEM licences (those sold with a
system) as they are forever tied to the system they're sold with and cannot
be installed on any other. Nor does it apply to the Students and Teachers
Edition (this was changed in 2003) which can only be installed on one
system.

So, if the second system is a different type from the first, then you're
fine. If they're both the same, then you are required to purchase another
licence.

Hi Elsie,

You'd need to uninstall it and reinstall with the correct key. You are aware
that most retail Office licenses allow for 2 installations, one to a desktop
and one on a laptop for the same user, yes?
