ACT! Installation Error

I'm not sure if anyone in this group was familiar with program by Sage
Software called ACT!, but I am having some issues installing their
program.

I have had the program running on my machine at the office for some
time. When I came back from a sales call, the program would not open.
It kept giving me an error of object reference. The computer had been
used by other people while I was gone, so I'm not sure what happened in
the interim.

I proceeded to uninstall the program, but it kept giving me errors in
the process, and I could not successfully uninstall the program. I went
into the registery to delete the files, so that I could get it off the
hard drive. I was successful in both uninstalling ACT! and not
breaking my computer! YEAH!

Now, I still am faced with the delima of reinstalling the program. I
am installing from a disk, and it will not allow me to do so because it
says I need to turn file and printer sharing on. However, it is on as
according to the checked box under Network properties.

Does anyone have any suggestions???

Ugh. Presuming the underlying Windows services are indeed started, and you
don't see any Windows-specific errors in your event logs, I would contact
Sage for support. I don't think I'm alone in disliking ACT! - I have had a
lot of problems with it in the past, and try to avoid it. See what they have
to say - or check their website for support.

One thing - when you leave your computer, and don't want to log out, just
lock the console. And don't give anyone your (good, regularly changed)
password. I can see no reason for people to be using others' computers like
this. Your login account clearly has admin rights (which is not advised!),
and so anyone else using your session had admin rights too - who knows what
happened.
