ACPI.sys error during xp setup

Hi All,

I have been trying to run a clean install of XP on a MSI K7N2 Delta L with
an AMD Athlon 1ghz CPU. Everything goes well, it asks me for name and
password, that goes well and then it says there is about 20 minutes of
install time left even though the activity bar is almost done, and it
restarts the system says remove any floppy disks that may be in the drive
and upon reboot an error comes up and says "The File acpi.sys is corrupted".
Press any key to continue. then cdrom.sys is corrupt then the errors keep
changing and setup never finishes. I tried a clean install Win2000 and it
always stopped and never finished either. This computer is a little over a
year old and was working fine with Win2000 then an error came up. I do not
know what the error was, as this machine belonged to a friend and when he
couldn't fix it he gave it to me and I am stumped.
I have disabled all onboard peripherals, modem, usb, and sound.
Please help. Anything will be better then where I am right now
Thanks in advance for any help provided..

Enable ACPI in BIOS - but I suspect you might have a hardware problem. Also,
try to update or flash BIOS - and make sure system time/date are current.
Else, try to install XP as Standard PC - you'll lose standby, hybernate etc.
Just press F5 instead of F6 at 'RAID drivers floppy' screen when you install
XP, then select Standard PC (press Down Arrow to see full list).

Thanks for the info. I will try that tonight. A couple of things I forgot
to mention. I did flash the bios and the install went farther then it ever
did, and I can install any OS on a hard drive from the problem computer on
my other machine, but nothing installs on this one. Thanks again and after I
try that tonight I will post an update.
