ACPI needing updating...?

Hi,

We have multi ple machines that uses HT processors, but we dont actually
have the ACPI installed for multiprocessing.
As we are still using a image thats been in use since like 2 years ago, that
other types of ACPI didnt work on certain machines.

But we now have HT processors, I want to update the driver.
But when I try to update them, via device manager, all I have is 'ACPI', and
'standard PC'

Where, and how, would I get the drivers for ACPI Multiprocessor PC?

I tried to update it for the widnows 2000, via device manager, but after
restarting, i got a BSOD. ...
inaccessible_boot_device

(then it did say it is not recommended in the update driver list anyways)

Anyways, thanks
Peter

Your real problem is that your image uses the wrong HAL.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;309283

There is no "supported" method for changing a HAL without reinstalling
Windows, but the unsupported method works quite well and I wouldn't have any
concerns about trying it on a desktop system -- you simply boot to recovery
console, expand the appropriate HAL from Windows CD and rename it to
"hal.dll".

Well, I tried that...
But it crashed at the end of the "windows" grey bar load up. it just stood.
I tried using the sysprep to update the HAL aswell, but that failed. (but
yet it still logged in successfully)

Do you know anything about sysprep, and the UpdateUHAL, UpdateHal, unattended?
(and im using ghost to image the machines)

Okay, ignore that reply.

I tried it with windows 2000, and that crashed.
but tried it in XP, and that all worked.

So is there a fix for windows 2000?
