Yup didn't mean to be confuzzin Cousin Stanley.

I dropped the shift key accidentally on the "c" AIR.
The WNC stands for Western North Carolina. That is how it is
referred to here. No city cuz, I'm in the sticks, boonies,
appalachins, what have you? RR rural route doncha know. I used
to go 20 miles to go to another country: Canada, Windsor,
Ontario from one of my prior domiciles. In another it was 20
miles to NORAD, ground zero, whew! Now just to get to town,
city, civilization, Asheville, NC I gotta go twenty miles.

He ain't kiddin'. You can get lost in a heartbeat up there. But it's a
beautiful area with a surprising number of colleges and cool little
towns (like Asheville). I've been to a blues bar there and had a great time.

BTW, not a big deal, but for my city it's US, North Carolina, Albemarle,
not Albe"r"marle...only 1 "r"...

No prob .... Just wasn't sure ....

| The WNC stands for Western North Carolina.

Is that northern or southern WNC ?

I spent about 7.5 years, 1971-1978,
in south-western Virginia at VPI in Blacksburg,
which I think is only about 50-60 miles
from the NC border ....

| That is how it is referred to here.

Noted and changed ....

| No city cuz, I'm in the sticks, boonies, appalachins,
| what have you? RR rural route doncha know.
| ....

Where I lived in Virginia was about 6 miles
from the south end of the Sky-Line drive ....

That part of the country is very beautiful,
but the winters are too cold for me ....

The boonies are where I also L O N G to be
and hopefully will make it before I croak ....

I am a silly case because I commute between two homes; one in West
Wales, on the West coast of Britain, one in Essex, on the East coast...

West Wales & Essex would look better for my entry

Cousin jo ....

UK, West Wales & Essex .... it will be ....

I spent one night around Easter-time in 1979
in Wales in a tiny BnB somewhere on a river bank,
maybe the Wye river but don't remember for sure ....

Driving out the next morning along the river
left me with an image that I'll never forget
of an old fisherman dressed in a rainhat, raincoat,
and Wellies carrying his rod and an incredible
salmon that was as long as his leg ....

Middle, but you knew I was gonna say that dincha? :)
Within sight of the highest mtn. in WNC all of NC for that
matter Mt. Mitchell

Ooo, that sounds very edukayshunnel as well as quite scenic in
its own right. Never made it that far up or down the PKWY. The
one time we tried the PKWY it rained was foggy, cloudy &
overcast both days so we quit and went to visit Andy in Mayberry
instead. I mean Mt Airy. :) Still don't know what the view from
that road is like, though I hear it is no longer the hundereds
of miles long views it used to be. No matter, we'll not try it
again as the traffic was horrendous even in bad weather.

Hope that when & if you get what you want where you want it that
it turns out to be indeed what you want.

Shoulda jus' said best wishes, guess I was feelin' kinda wordy.

The Wye valley is lovely; floods often - contains Hay on Wye, which has
tried to secede from the union on account of the amount of second hand
book shops in the town... :)

Slightly to the north is the only road sign I have ever seen that alerts
one to the possibility of a bird in the sky - the red kite.

Sietse, while you're by this thread, how about hailing an official

to dot out our ACF map.

Yes, please put me on the map. :)

Siestse Fliege - Prince of the Province of Sysutil, N. Freeware.

LOL I'm your prince now, eh? Told you I'm done with you. :)

B.t.w. I've written an AutoIt script that I'm planning to make available
shortly, also as an executable.
It will find all the shortcuts in the path(s) that you specify and
gather their properties (also properties from their targets) and write
the data to a comma- or otherwise delimited file.
It will support inifiles for complete customisation and also commandline
parameters (different inifiles, scandirs).

It's primarily meant for scanning drives (partitions).
That's where e.g. Nir Sofer ShortcutsMan failed for me (OTOH, my script
is only for reporting, for now).
And Goldenfrog's ShortCutter, as you mentioned, doesn't work with NTFS.

No idea if anyone would be interested, but anyway.
I believe I need to do only some dotting of i's and also a read-me.
No time this weekend, though.

Not particularly. But I'm from Tilburg.

Dutchmen will recognize yet another Brabander.
Since only a couple of years, though. I'm still not really used to it.
Have allways been a Nimwegeneur.

Wait, Sietse, /please/ take me back! I've been pining....

(I'm an ACF single now. I broke it off with Bjorn Simonsen -- after
I caught him flirting with "Chrissy Cruiser.")

Some ways to retrieve Longitude and Latitude -

If a city has a major airport, it should be in one of these files.
Stations idenfied by a 4-letter ICAO
http://weather.noaa.gov/data/nsd_cccc.txt

Stations identified by a five letter synoptic code
http://weather.noaa.gov/data/nsd_bbsss.txt

Another way is to use perl to send (LWP Get) requests to this web site
(or similar site) and pass the appropriate city, state/country:
http://www.astro.com/atlas/horoscope

For example Paris:
http://www.astro.com/atlas/horoscope?country_list=&expr=Paris&submit=Search

Or to be more specific Paris,FR:
http://www.astro.com/atlas/horoscope?country_list=&expr=Paris,FR&submit=Search
