AcerScan Question

I have just upgraded to XP Pro.

I have an AcerScan 620U, USB. I've searched on the web (Acer is now Benq)
and have downloaded the driver for this scanner from the Benq website. No
problems there, but when I've unzipped it and begin the install process, I
get the warning that this driver is not XP-logo-approved (or words to that
effect) and that I'm tempting all sorts of misfortune by continuing to
install.

Perhaps it was a bit of coincidence, but I had installed this driver on my
(former) XP computer. I ended up returning the machine (under warranty)
because it rebooted constantly. No rhyme, no reason, no pattern. I don't
know that the driver would have caused this. . .or would it?

Am I tempting disaster by contemplating this installation?

I have had good luck with the Acer Scanner drivers for Windows XP,
although not with your specific model. I currently have an older
parallel port model (610P) running just fine on my machine under XP.
Mind you I use the scanner about once a month.

Just make sure you create a new system restore point before you
install the driver. Then if thing do go blooey you will have that to
undo the changes.
