I have a problem. When I set my kids up with 'limited user' accounts they
are unable to access their Hotmail accounts. Is this common, or am I doing
something really stoopid. Please help someone

Hi,

The issue is due to integration of Windows Messenger. It will not run under
a Limited account. If you are using OE, perform the following:

1) Open OE in the limited account, go to Tools, Options and uncheck
Automatically logon to Windows Messenger
2) Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Right click in the right pane and select New, DWord value. Name the new
value Hide Messenger. Double click the new value and set it to 2. This
prevents the delay when opening OE with the Contacts pane enabled.

Next go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Messenger.MsgrObject Right click the
Messenger.MsgrObject and select Rename and rename it to
Messenger.MsgrObjectOld

Also, perform the following:

- Go to IE6 Tools/Internet Options/Privacy tab, then click Edit. enter
"hotmail.com" and
click "allow all cookies".
- Check in Internet Explorer under Tools/Internet Options/Security that the
user has not
changed the password setting from 'prompt for username and password' to
'anonymous logon'
in internet zone. The option setting for anonymous logon may cause the
error.

This will prevent the issue.
