account password

hey. can anyone help me.... i am the administrator on a
stand-alone PC, and have forgotten my password. how can i
bypass the prompt on start up in order to turn the prompt
off?

You've just discovered the first rule of XP - NEVER use the built-in
administrator account for day-to-day running! Keep it for moments like
this.

You have two options - do a google search for a password cracker, of
which there are several free ones I believe, or do a repair install. If
you do the latter, any encrypted files and folders you may have set up
will be inaccessible.

When all this is over, set up a User account with Admin rights for your
day-to-day running.
