Keith

I recently installed a new program on the computer. I
restarted the computer and when it loaded up the login
provided an error saying something to the effect "Cannot
access your profile" and there was a counter counting
down. When I entered Windows, it started up like I had
just started my computer for the first time. All my
documents are now in a folder under "documents and
settings" called "keith.bak". The new folder "keith" has
nothing but the default files and folders. How can I get
my computer to go back to the way it was?

You can copy the parts you need from the corrupt profile \Desktop,
\Favorites, etc. Don't copy the folders, but copy their contents instead.
Use your mail software's import function to restore your messages/ address
book, etc.
