account administrator problem

i am using windows vista home premium edition. i'm trying to run a program
that helps recover deleted files, but it tells me that i need an account with
administrator privelges. i am logged on as the administrator but it won't let
me access my hard drive.

Is the data recovery program you're attempting to use specifically
designed to be Vista-compatible? If not, it'll likely never work correctly.

At any rate, you'll need to contact the manufacturer of that program to
determine why it isn't working as advertised.

Have you tried right clicking the programs file or shortcut and selecting
the "Run as administrator" option? The main One difference between a program
that is Vista compatible and a program that is not, is that the compatible
program will ask for the needed admin privileges and the incompatible
program will not, since it is not aware of the way Vista works.
