May System Restore do the Job, on how to perform system Restore follow this:

Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> System Restore.
There select :
(*) Restore My Computer to an earlier time then click Next.
Select A date from the calendar before the Deletion took place and click Next.
HTH.
Let us know.

component. "Accessories and Utilities" . It was deleted a while back so i
dont know when i could even back it up to.

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, then in the left column click
"Add/remove windows components".

You may find that you first need to remove the components you are now
missing using this correct method and then reinstalling from here. You may
also be prompted to insert your Wndows XP disc if it cant find the required
files on the hard drive.

Also have you checked in device manager for any hardware components which
are simply missing drivers?

If none of the above work you may need to do a repair install which would
also require that you re-install numerous updates.

And worst case if none of the above work you may need to do a full clean
reinstall of the OS and apps.

And not wishing to sound like I'm having a bash at you but sometimes we need
things like this to happen to get us into the habit of making regular
backups. I recommend you take a look at disk imaging software - a quick an
easy way to back up your partitions and restore a system within xx minutes
instead of xx hours or days!

HTH

Good luck

Ian
