Somehow I have accidentally changed my @ key to produce "
instead. It happens in Word only, not in Wordpad etc. Can
anyone please tell me how to change it back?

You have changed your keyboard to US layout. Go to the Control Panel,
Regional & Languages Option tab and select UK as your Location and default
settings.

Thank you, it worked. I'd love to know how it happened.
What combination did I accidentally press, do you think?

It may have been something as simple as an HTML email with US Language
applied, or opening a document someone sent to you in US language.
