How about System Restore?

System Restore may restore the registry entries associated with the
application, but it is unlikely to restore the files (at least not all of
them) associated with the application in question. Doubtful that they were
covered under the "necessary for your system to function" umbrella.

Well, the OP could be lucky. If the application happens to be one that
is relatively simple, consisting of EXE and DLL files, he should be
able to recover. Otherwise, as you say, he is out of luck.

Certainly. Just insert the CD from which the program was originally
installed, and reinstall it.
