Accessing the Recovery Console

Hi Everyone

I have XP Pro SP2 and have installed the Recovery Console successfully.
When I rebooted, I was given the option of going to XP Pro or the Recovery
Console. Is it possible to hide this option and, maybe, have it only
acceptable if booting to Safe Mode? Ideally, I'd want the PC to go straight
into Windows, particularly if I'm not the one who's booted it.

I know that the Recovery Console can be used directly from the installation
disc but I don't want to have to carry the installation disc around with me.
Murphy's Law says that I'll need Recovery Console when away from home, so I'd
like to have access to it wherever I am.

If this is not possible, is it possible to install it onto another medium,
such as a USB memory stick or bootable CD? I'd be happy to have one
specifically to hold my "Recovery" or "Emergency" tools.

Thanks for your patience.

You could change the timeout=30 to 2 in the boot.ini fle. Which would
pretty much boot into XP automatically.

That's perfect. I've looked into the timeout and see that it can be between
0 and 999. I'll see what it looks like with timeout = 2 and maybe reduce it
to 1.
