After a major messup involving MS Updates, a dodgy mouse,
and my stupidity, I managed to trash my master boot
record, and had to reinstall windows. I chose not to
format my drive, as I had a lot of things that I hadn't
copied to cd yet. however, all of my stuff was in a
private folder, and the account that owned the folder is
now gone.

Is there any way that I can access the folder and get my
stuff out of it, or have I just killed a lot of and
downloads?

Thanks

This article describes how to take ownership of a file or folder
to which you have been denied access:
