I have tried Forte Agent, Outlook Express, and APic Viewer to access my
newsgroup account. None of them have been able to contact the server. It is
not Earthlink, it is easynews.com and it has been giving pretty much the same
error
Unable to connect to the server.
Configuration:
Account: Easynews.com
Server: news.easynews.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0e
Is it due to Vista, firewalls, or easynews?
I have already destroyed one keyboard and a mouse over this.

Hi, vegcook ... I am certainly not sure this has anything to do with it, but
you might check your spyware, privacy, or parental controls settings in the
various software that restrict such things ... make sure you have chat or
newsgroups enabled/allowed. Have you navigated recently, in your web
browser, to the easynews.com website? Make sure they are up and running and
are not experiencing server problems.

I just did a search for easynews.com ... the account for the news server
should be news.easynews.com ... try putting it in that way ... it looks
like easynews is a paid subscription Usenet newsgroup service ... is that
correct?

Best of luck ... vanilla

You can't use Outlook Express on Vista. Have you tried Windows Mail?
Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

It doesn't appear to be isolated to Earthlink. I've been trying to connect
via my Suddenlink account and I am getting the same message.
