How can I access a document that I have backed up, if I've lost the original?

It depends on the tool you used for backing up your
documents.

In this case you must use the same tool to restore your
files, perhaps to a differen location. You should also pay
attention to the basic rule of backups: A backup is almost
useless unless
a) It gets tested immediately after the initial configuration, and
b) It gets tested regularly, e.g. twice each year.

Thank you. I will try that, and I will remember to test each backup. Again,
thank you for the help.
