Good day

I have Windows XP Home edition

1. Is there a limit on the number of users which can
access a shared forlder in Windows XP?
I have a PC running under windows xp home edition.
When the number of users, who is accesing a certain shared
folder in xp, reaches 5 the next user cant access the
folder anymore. Is there a problem with my OS. Different
window version is being used by other users.

2. I dont have SIMPLE FILE SHARING option. I went to My
computer then click tools and then folder option then
view. Going at the bottom part there is no SIMPLE FILE
SHARING option.

need some help,

thanks in advance

A computer running XP Home Edition allows a maximum of 5 other
computers to connect to its shared resources simultaneously. A
computer running XP Professional allows a maximum of 10 other
computers to connect to its shared resources simultaneously.

Computers that aren't actively connected to a computer's shared
resources don't count against the limit. When a computer disconnects
from a shared resource, it no longer counts against the limit. See
this site for more information:

Hi Grapols,

Windows XP allows maximum of 5 incoming connections. Whereas XP Professional
allows 10. For more, upgrade to a Server OS.

Thanks guys,

but is there a way to increases the number of inbound
connections without upgrading my OS?

Is this the same with Windows 2000 professional edition?

whats the reason behind limiting inbound connections?

No, you can't. And the reason is the price. If you want more connections,
then you need to buy a product that's designed to handle more connections.
