Accessing Domain controllers through Firewall

N

Nasser Hosseini

Hi everyone,

We have a small network containing of two win2000 DCs and workstations (in
different locations). Due to massive intrusion attacks, we have put DCs and
some of workstations behind a Firewall (NETGEAR FR328). The problem is now
that the domain member computers, that are not behind the firewall don't
reach the DC. According to
(http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q179442)
either you open a number of ports on the firwall or alternatively use PPTP
and GRE 47 protocol. How do you use PPTP and GRE in this context? I would
really appreciate, if someone (specailly from Microsoft reading this NG)
could guide me through this problem.

Thanks in advance

Consider setting up a VPN between the two sites. PPTP and GRE are VPN
protocols.
