Accessing Directory C:\System Volume Information

My virus scanner is detecting a virus in a directory that I cannot access.
The directory is C:\System Volume Information. When I try to open it I get
this error.
"C:\System Volume Information is not accessible, access is denied." Is there
any way I can get in there and delete the virus file? Thanks,

That is a system directory with only system permissions by default. To gain
access in explorer right click the folder and go to properties, then select
Security. You will see only one group listed-called system now press
"advanced" and in the next form "add". Click "advanced" on the form that
appears and "find now" on the form that appears after that. From the list
select your login name and press ok you should see underlined
computerName\Login name in the text box. Press ok again and check the Full
control box. Press ok and ok again and again.which closes the property
sheet. You should now find you can click and open the system volume folder.
Sounds complicated when written down by in reality quite easy to do. Hope it
works.

When I right click on the folder and click properties there is no security
to click on.

Try this in Explorer go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options. Click
the View Tab go to the bottom of the list and make sure Use Simple File
Sharing is unchecked. Is your partition formatted with NTFS?

Use Simple File Sharing was already checked. Still can't access the
directory.
Yes, I am using NTFS. Anymore ideas?

Hi
use simple file sharing needs to be unchecked-its a misleading name, but if
you leave it on then Windows hides NTFS file permissions.
