Access will not open up on my computer. Help!

I installed Access on my computer, it tells me it's install but it is not
showing up in the control panel. I look into my computer to find it, then I
create a shortcut for my desktop and try to open it. It then gives me a
message: Windows cannot open this file, File Access.PIP. Then it tells me to
open this file windows needs to know what program created it and I can find
it on the web. This sent me to a web site call CKNOW.com for the file
extention assoication. But this wasn't helpful. Please help

Since no one here can see what you did OR what happened can you please
elaborate:

1. Did you install Access as a stand alone or was it a part of Microsoft
Office? (Might require going into custom if installing from Office CD)
2. What version of Access are you trying to install, if part of Office,
what version?
3. What version of Windows do you have? (May seem irrelevant but Access
2003 won't install on anything lower than Windows XP)
4. What happens when you put the CD in? Does it install with any issues?
5. After the installation was complete was there any additional message?
(Was there a message at all?)
