Hi

We have an old legacy database that was built using Access 2, and can't be
upgraded, as it is part of a third party system.

The database has possibly become corrupt and we would like to perform a
repair, however we no longer have Access 2 on any of our machines.

Does anyone know where we can legally get hold of a copy of Access 2. Can it
be downloaded from Microsoft? We have an agreement for development licenses
on all Microsoft software.

Cheers

You can download Microsoft Office Access 2 Converter.

Once installed you can actually compact and repair Access 2 format
databases.

You can also open for read only purposes too, this will only work with
Access 11 (2003), I believe.

Thanks, that's what i thought.

However I could really do with a copy today!

I guess the next problem will be getting it to work on XP

I'm afraid I can't help you with that. Even if you found someone on here
willing to sell you one, they probably couldn't get it to you today. Have
you tried importing all the objects into a later version of Access? I make
no guarantees on whether or not that will work, but it's worth a try.

If you have a MSDN subscription, it is available through MSDN downloads. If
not, you can try importing to a newer version as Lynn suggests.

(I'm not sure that 2.0 will run on XP, anyway)

I've got 2.0 installed and running, and it works fine on XP. If you
wish, I'd be willing to have you Zip the database, email it to me,
I'll repair it and send it back. Of course some corruption cannot be
repaired, so I can't promise it will work!

My email address is jvinson <at> wysard of info <dot> com. Remove the
blanks and fix the punctuation of course.

Neil,

If the database is "secured" you should also send John a copy of the
system.mda

Thanks everyone

I managed to find a copy on MSDN

Unfortunately the repair didn't work :(

Not too serious as I have a restore from backup option

Cheers
