2nd post - I've been opening our Access mdb / table of products the same way
for years, but a couple of days ago after shutting down normally the night
before, the table won't open.

I can see the db in Windows Explorer so I know it's still there.

I have done an Office "Detect & Repair" and an Access "Compact & Repair
Database" hoping that one of these would fix the problem, but the problem
persists.

I tried to open the table by going to Start-->Programs but the same thing
happens. I.E. The first Access screen opens allowing me to choose what I
want to open. I can see the table I want, select it but when I click on
[Open] it doesn't. When I see the table with Windows Explorer, the time/date
reflects that I just opened it, but it didn't open.

I am able to open earlier versions / backups of the table. I'd like not to
lose the changes made to the latest table so I prefer not using an earlier
version.

An order processing Access based program that links to the table works fine
with the table.

I allowed a Microsoft update to occur last week. I don't remember whether
this table problem started to happen right after the install or not.

This table is our 9000+ product offerings so it is important for our
business to resolve this issue.

Help will be greatly appreciated.

hi,
can you write a make table query to extrats the data from
the table that wont open? can you query the data with a
select query?

I am not fluent with queries and extracting so I don't know the answer to
your questions.

I do know that the table is still there and our order processing program is
still able to communicate with it.

The good news is that as mysteriously as the problem appeared, the problem
has disappeared. I can now open the table. I don't know what may have fixed
the problem though.

Thank you for attempting to help.

PS - My apologies the the latest post on the same situation. I didn't
realize it would end up on this forum.
