Access rights between 2 trusted domains.

I have 2 Windows 2000 Server SP4 networks. 1 in London, 1
in New York. We both use Exchange Server 2000 SP3. We are
connected via a wan connection and have external trusts
going both ways. The problem is users in London can
access their emails via outlook while in NY, but users in
NY cannot access their emails in London unless they are
part of the administrators group in the NY domain. All
users in both domains have the same rights. I am at a
loss as to whether this is an Exchange issue or an Active
Directory issue?

Hi SRTM,

Well, you could diagnose if this is an exchange or AD issue by giving a NY
person access to a share when they are in London to determine if it is an AD
problem.

It really almost sounds like Name resolution for the NY domain is not
functioning while in london. Can a London user in London gain access to a
network resource in NY while they are in London?

You will need to give more inforamation about your environment though.
Is NY and London in the same Windows 2000 forest or separate forests?

What Name resolution methods are employed at each location: WINS and DNS,
or Just DNS?

Hi Robert,

The NY & London Offices are in separate forests. We use
both WINS & DNS for name resolution. I had a user in
London over the holidays and he was able to access his
shares fine but was unable to access his exhange mailbox
unless I made him an administrator in the NY domain. But
I could easily log into any machine in NY and access any
London user's shares and email addresses.
