Access new file type import

Does anybody know how to add new file type to the list of Access 2002-3
import file types? I need to read a flat text file with .DAT extension into
Access XP 2002. This is possible in Access 97.

extensions that Access will accept. The neatest method is the last,
editing the registry (provided you're careful<g>).

Alternatively, this http://support.microsoft.com/?id=306144 includes
code that automatically makes a copy of the textfile with a .txt
