access is denied

We have an XP Home machine that we can't get a file off of. It was
installed twice, and as a result, there are two profile folders in c:\docs
and settings: one called "owner" and a second called "owner.<machinename>.
We can't get into "owner". The message is "C:\documents and settings\owner
is inaccessible. Access is denied."

I'm guessing there was a new security identifier of sorts for the "owner"
user given when we reinstalled the OS.

Can anyone help me get into this folder?
