Access folder is denied

I have a folder that contains many files but i couldn't access this folder! I
could open the files or niether delete. I've try to do many things like:
- check disk for errors.
- defrag the disk.
- check for viruses.

but niether of the above trials solve the problem. I want to know what is
the problem and how to solve?

The message that appeared is: /folder name is not accessible. Access is deied.

In XP Home you have to boot in safe mode to see the security tab. In XP
Pro you have to disable simple file sharing.
