Access does not open ODBC dialog when importing or linking

Access 2003 does not display the ODBC dialog box when you select ODBC Data
Sources when trying to import / link tables. I have reinstalled Access, to
no avail. I can access the system odbc configuration through admin tools.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem, short of reinstalling the OS?

I just ran into the same problem on 2 PCs running different applications but using ACCESS. Both PCs have the same symptom.. I re-installed and spoke to my other vendor. It is still not fixed but this is what I know so far. I was able to export from Excel and the dialog came up. It appears to be ACCESS specific. To the best of my knowledge, I have not changed any thing in my environment. I was wondering if some MS automatic update may have inadvertently broke something

It is Access specific, all other apps. are working fine. I have restored to
a know good point (three weeks ago), uninstalled the office, reinstalled and
the issue is still unresolved. I checked my update history, via the log
file, researched the updates to identify a potential cause, however, nothing
stands out as being directly or indirectly associated with access and ODBC.
I will keep researching the situation on my end.... good luck and thanks....
I thought I was the only person out there with this problem. Nothing out on
the web about it, at least not that I have come across in the last 24 hours.
Thanks Again.

Hey TL.... I think I found the answer.. The problem is with Symantec AntiVirus. OPen Norton; Select Options; Then Select to Miscellaneous Options. DESELECT Office plug-ins. No I'm not smart; I found it in one of the other threads.

Another Thank You!!!
I followed all of the same avenues as everyone else before finding this
post, including Technet and MSDN.

Not to mention Dell Gold Support, who were of NO help at all.

Thanks Again!
