access denied

I set up home network between my desktop PC and my son's laptop.
The problem is that I can see the icon of the other computer in
"my network places|" folder, but when I click on it, message says that I
might not have permission to use this network resource.It also says that the
netowork path
was not found.
Please tell me what wrong have I done!!!

User accounts must exist on both PC. The user account found on your desktop
must exist on the laptop and vise versa.

Have you run the Network Wizard?
Have you rebooted both machines?
Have you ensured that there is a User on BOTH machines with the SAME
username and the SAME password?
