Access Denied

My brother gave me his old computer, but transferred everything from my
previous computer to his without letting me know beforehand. As a result, my
entire User Account folder has been denied the access when I try to access it
now, from the newly reconstituted computer. The Guest Account's folders are
accessible however. My User Account was password-protected, could this have
had anything to do with this? Is there anything I can do to regain access to
my files??
I'm also quite worried because when I click on the folder, it says that it's
empty... did I lose everything??
