Access Denied

I can't open any of "My Documents" files that I copied to a friends 2nd hard
drive I borrowed. I was having problems with my system (XP Home without SP2)
so I copied my drive onto his drive. (XP Pro w/SP2) I also backed up to dvd
and just copied the My Documents folder to his documents folder. I even
copied everything onto my new clean drive that I named the same as the old
drive and I still can't open any of them from any media. It says "not
accessible-access denied".
I don't know what to do. I have many pics in there and scanned bills, checks
and receipts that have been shredded after being scanned. I really need that
access.
I would appreciate any suggestions or expertise on this subject.

Jupiter,
I was so hopeful....But it didn't work. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

What happened after you took ownership? Or weren't you able to?
