Access priveleges block old "My documents" folder

On a previous PC/hard drive, I had the typical "documents and settings"
folder with all the corresponding user folders. There was an admin folder and
3 other restricted user folders. I copied all the information onto another
hard drive, then with the new (bigger) drive, re-installed OS (WXPSP2) and
other programs. Then, when I went to access my documents folder in the
administrator user, I get the message that I can't access these files due to
not having priveleges. I don't understand why the computer is restricting
access to folders that are no longer part of the main system. How can a
breech the access to get my documents back??
