Hi,

I have a XP professional version. The system got unstable (ie. while
I am
using the internet, I got kick out in the middle and the system
automatically restart itself. So I used the original setup disk and try to
re-install the system again (using the 'R' option). When the setup started
copying files to the hard drive, I gave me a message that file unable to
copy, retry or skip. I chosen the option 'retry'. It went
thru and have same message for different file. Now I try to get the data from
my hard drive. I disconnect it from my machine and tried to use a different
machine to read the data (using extenal hard drive shell thru USB connect).
I always got the message "access denied" when I try to click the folder.
Please
let me know if there is a way to get my data back from the hard drive. Thanks.

Try to take the ownership of the HDD and make sure you logged as admin on
this machine to be able to access the HDD.
Also it will be safe if you scanned first for malware and viruses before
attempt to rescue any data.
