access denied for all usb devices

Nothing has change in my usage of the pc. Out of the blue, my pc can detect
my usb devices such as ext hdd, but when I try to open it by double click it,
it say 'access denied'. Its the same for my thumbdrive.

I have checked the bios (usb controllers enabled) and in device manager, it
seems ok (usb devices are enabled) and there is no password protection on my
usb devices. Any idea what is wrong with my pc? Thanks

Did you recently map a network drive to D: or something high up in the
alphabet? Some USB storage devices will try to use the first available drive
letter that is not assigned to another storage device. So if you mapped D:
to a network share, the device will try to use D:, but you won't get an
error about it. Anyway, if this is the case, change the drive mapping to
something lower in the alphabet, like Z:.

my pc>'FILES stored on this pc (shared doc, A's docu, B's docu 7 C's docu),
HARD Disk Drivers (C and D), Devices with Removable(DVD-Ram Drive (D)) AND
others "MY SHARED FOLDERS'. Normally if you right click say hard disk, you
will beable to see the dialog page where you can change the lettereing. But
its not available here. So how can I change the lettering, thasnks

If you don't have a mapped drive, then I'm not sure what the problem is. The
solution that I suggested is only if you have a mapped network drive.
