I'm reposting my question because I got no answers and I'm still stumped.

We have uploaded our member database to our web site (in fpdb folder below
root). Is it not possible to open it directly using Access 2003?

When I try, I get the following error:

Microsoft Office Access is unable to open the data access page
The file does not exist, or you do not have read access to the file.

If I open our website in FrontPage and double click the database, Access
WILL open it - though this method is really slow.

Any idea why?

Thanks.

Stephen

I don't know what your setup is or how FrontPage handles opening an
Access database, but it sounds like you don't have permission in Windows to
open that file. This is to say that if you want to view a web page on a web
server with your browser, anyone can do that, but if you want to open a web
page on the website with an application like Access you need Share level
access or a windows account on that machine.
