Access 97 database passwords

To all:

Much to my dismay I went to open up an existing Access 97
database and it asked me for my password. I never set up
password security. I am in a bit of a quandry.

Does anyone have a solution?(And updating from ancient
technology is not an option!)

I believe this can happen if someone has tried to open the db with Word - in
which case your db might be toast.
