We just recvd upgrade to XP for OS and our databases converted to A2K.
Everything is well except for one thing -- the original A95 db is a
no-frills one. We would access the queries ourselves through the queries
area. With the minimalist look of A95, all we'd see are the titles. Now
these appear in the more complex A2K interface complete with all the editing
capabilities.

I don't know if such a thing is possible, but can we reduce the window to
something that is more rudimentary so that basically only the query titles
show up somewhat like what the old interface was? I unticked the "Database"
toolbar, for example, and that helped. But don't know if there's a way to
get rid of the "Objects" bar on the left, etc., or if this is even possible?

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

I don't think so. I have repressed memories about with A95. It was the worse
version of Access IMHO. Be glad that you are on A2K! Anyway the database
window is one things which was tweaked with each version of Access with a
little more being added each time. Wait until you see Access 2007!

You could use the Switchboard Manager tool to create a Switchboard form;
however, it doesn't run queries directly. Forms and reports, but not queries.
You'd need to create macros or code to run a query from the Switchboard.

<chuckle> Yes, I hadn't seen it in years. But they didn't need anything
more advanced here and there were probably licensing issues. But now that
we're all on XP, guess they felt they had no choice, who knows!?

Haven't yet. Would like to. But you know govt. Since the requirements are

Yes, that's what I thought. I am finishing up here myself in mid-April and
I didn't create this db and I feel I'd be stepping on toes if I made any
changes (I'm just a temp, after all <g>). But it was worth a try re asking.

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it along.

I'm watching Stargate SG1 on SciFi right now. Too bad it's the last
season.

(<g> I know. But the movies are coming out, and hopefully soon [RDA
confirmed he'll be in at least one of them. Can't remember which one(s).].
I'm way behind in the eps; I'm waiting till I can purchase s2 of SGA before
catching up on s9 SG-1 _and_ SGA because they're so intertwined. I stopped
watching when I got lost due to missed eps ... We're behind here in Canada
because Sci-Fi channel doesn't/won't air here and our own "Space" started
late and I'd missed too many before stumbling upon new eps air time (.
Thanks for the nice break. We're in the middle of fiscal year end and it's
been a tough haul ... nice to take a moment to breathe a thing of something
