Thanks Gina, but the database is not to be found on my computer in any form.
The shortcut is there, but not the db. I have a copy that is a couple of
months old, so will be missing newer records. Is there any possibility that
someone could have stolen it? This is on a home computer with broadband
(always connected) running Avast anti-virus.

Michael,

I strongly doubt it could have been stolen. I run Avast along with a few
other programs. Sounds like it got deleted but I would also check the Virus
Chest in Avast and your Recycle Bin. I have never seen one go *poof* but
that doesn't mean it can't happen.

There is a bug in Access 2007 that can completely delete your database. It may
or may not apply in your case. Check out
http://allenbrowne.com/Access2007.html#Bugs

== Click on the What's broken link
== Scroll to the bottom of the table

You might look over the list to see if anything else applies to your situation.

Restoration - file undelete utility
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html

Use this IMMEDIATELY. The longer you wait the likelier your deleted
file will be un retrievable. Indeed, given a choice, download on
another PC and use a USB drive to execute the utility.
